Patriots, we have big news to share. We have just been informed that Glenn Beck has accepted an invitation to speak at our Audit the IRS rally on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 from 12pm to 3pm. There were rumors last week and even talk from Beck on his radio program that he would be showing up in DC this week. You can read more about his announcement here

75th Anniversary Celebration
2013

2013 is a year of celebration, reflection and contemplation for the National Federation of Republican Women, as we celebrate 75 years of excellence in bringing together thousands of Republican women to work toward our common goals of promoting Republican principles, objectives, policies and candidates.

The NFRW kicked off the 75th anniversary celebration in early March during the NFRW Spring Board of Directors Meeting in Arlington, Va. Attendees enjoyed a festive cake (pictured right), as well as a special video featuring U.S. House and Senate GOP leaders and other GOP elected officials who wished the NFRW “Happy Birthday.”

The video was produced by NFRW 4th Vice President Lisa Roper and Kim Chambers, both of the Texas Federation of Republican Women. Watch the video on our home page.

The NFRW was founded in 1938 when Marion E. Martin called a meeting at the Palmer House in Chicago to organize hundreds of independent Republican women’s clubs across the country into a national organization. We will continue to celebrate our 75th year throughout 2013, with the grand finale planned in September at the 37th Biennial Convention in Louisville, Ky.

Abortion is not Healthcare:
Senate Passes Bill to Prevent
Taxpayer Funding of Abortions

Harrisburg, Pa. The Pennsylvania Senate today approved House Bill 818, a measure that would ensure that no taxpayer funds are used to subsidize abortion coverage in health insurance plans mandated by the new federal healthcare law. Final passage was a bipartisan vote of 31-19.

Michael Geer, president of Pennsylvania Family Council, said: “This new law is necessary to keep our insurance laws consistent with Pennsylvania’s Abortion Control Act.”

“Abortion is not health care. Pennsylvania does not use taxpayer dollars to fund abortions and we need to make sure it stays that way.

“The bill respects the conscience and respect for life of millions of Pennsylvanians, and ensure that their tax dollars do not subsidize abortion coverage through the back door of the new health insurance exchanges.”

Pennsylvania is among 20 states which have already enacted a similar law.

Pennsylvania Family Council thanks House sponsor, State Rep. Donna Oberlander (R-Clarion) and Senate sponsor Sen. Don White (R-Indiana) for their work in introducing and passing this important bill, and looks forward to Gov. Tom Corbett’s signature on this important new law.
